Thanksgiving will now be celebrated on the 16th...
So the family back home has all decided to gather at my house for Thanksgiving... when I am not there. The last time we were all together it was to see me off going to Europe, and then I dont think it was long enough. So I am just slightly irritated. Its like my family is thumbing their noses at me, in the sort of half joking half serious way my family does these things. My own Thanksgiving was not very memorable. There were no other Americans at the hostel, so I was forced to chow down on spam and stale bread by myself. Spent most of the day in the small town of Kutna Hora, where I put off my appetite by visiting a very old church that was decorated in the festive bones of more than 40000 plague victims of the 14th century.
The alter was a stacked pile of ribs supported by femurs, [image3_right]
and there were four gigantic piles of skulls in the corners of the service hall, with wooden crowns on top. Death is King?
But I would say that my equivalent of Thanksgiving for the month occurred about ten days earlier, with the coming of a band of Australia. The pictures are here, of the three guys with possessed eyes. Tim Mcmillan and his friends form Goblincore, which I can best describe as the pace of viking metal played with non electric guitars and tableware on old drums. Great guys, and they apparently are playing all over Europe. I only wish I could have followed them, but I had my own ideas of travel. They were kind enough to give me not one but two CDs of theirs, and the only thing I could give back was a stammered promise to help them out if they ever played in the States.
Well, at least we were able to follow eachother on facebook.
(edit: AGGH. Having trouble figuring out how to show pics here. Will have to figure it out later. In the meantime the latest four pics in the album are the ones Im talking about)
now then, when i say my family is thumbing their noses, i meant that as a tease. i know they all miss me alot, and worry about me on this trip so far from home.
so, just one more reminder that when writing on the internet, it pays to be very clear on what you mean.
