My alumni is closing....
Saint Bernards Catholic High School; as of next monday will be 119 years old...But, this is the year that this faithful institution will finally, sadly, pitifully, creep into it's bed, and die a sad death.
Sadness abounds.
I have just discovered this from my friends on facebook. Chalk one up for something useful on Face book, if you want.
I am now nearly a one year alumni. Though I have seen foreign lands, and prepared myself for emancipation, I have never forgotten those hallowed halls, wherein I learned so much, about myself, about humanity, about knowledge, the pursuit of it therein, and how it will affect me.
I am, naturally, a changed person, from when I first entered those doors nearly three years ago. I am recognizable, of course, the changes are subtle. But, they are there.
I am grateful to the teachers of this school, for teaching me not only about the mysteries of humanity and the world we live, but also about myself. I am thankful for the many opportunities I was given here, and for some of the things I gave back in return.
There will be a mass service on the 22nd, to commemorate the school's last birthday I will be attending, though I have long since given up my Christianity. It is not only the thought, but the act, that is most useful.
Ave, Schola Sanctus Bernardo!
