Welcome to The Wizard's Manse The Modern Major General
Maybe this is why we're having such a hard time in Iraq. The generals "have only had their knowledge brought down to the beginning of the century"
As performed by general Greivous and CO. Yohoho and aftermath. So, Christmas has come and gone. Winter still reigns supreme here in Saint Paul, though. We got dumped on three days in a row, and I spent much of Christmas morning shoveling sidewalks rather than opening presents.Speaking of which, apparently pending four months in Europe makes it hard for relatives to gauge your wants. I got two books from my parents, some warm flannel underwear, a sweater vest, and... Over two hundred dollars from various aunts, uncles, and grandparents. A hopeful goal So, it's been a rather roller-coaster of two weeks since I have come home. On one hand I do have alot of spare time, since I don't have to worry about where I am going to sleep for the next week or where to get food. I have a warm home with loving parents and more than enough money. But on the other hand I have been attempting to fill my days with job hunting, writing, meeting people on the street, catching up with old friends, and preparing for my future. All in all, very stressful, especially job hunting. I have met many people on the street and old friends who, while they may have had jobs of one sort or another months ago, they are, alas, out of luck now. My own parents have kept their jobs, but at a reduced pay. A New Beginning Snug and cozy, curled up in an overstuffed chair with a laptop, things now seem the way they were from before I began this short adventure of mine. It feels that perhaps I never left home, with snow beginning to swirl outside and the temperature dropping steadily towards zero, and soft Tschakovsky on the stereo. Mother is in the other room, grading papers and occasionally phoning colleagues, whilst father drove to work three hours before. The house is warm, and I am safe. |
